Reducing stress, delivering confidence
On a tight schedule, catching a plane can be an incredibly stressful experience, let alone having to navigate your way through a foreign environment and (for some) in a foreign language.
During Auckland International Airports re-vamp, an opportunity existed to create a wayfinding system that would deliver a strong user experience whilst reducing overall stress to travellers and cost to the country.
designworks created a strong system, distinctive in its New Zealandness, that leveraged international conventions for communication. The total number of signage forms was reduced from 75 to five: One-colour monolithic shapes deliberately designed to stand out from the visual clutter in the background, as well as be easily updated.
The result is a strong, highly effective system that communicates the necessary information quickly and easily; helping to reduces stress and delivering confidence to travellers.
